To everyone who was a part of the Haitian Relief Concert at Door Community Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 23, a most sincere and profound “Thank You”.

It was a true community event featuring some of Door County’s most beloved performers who, along with an unbelievably talented group of student performers, provided a very receptive audience with an unprecedented evening of music.

Together we raised nearly $8000, and while considerably more will be required to deal with this tragedy of epic proportion, all who were a part of the event can feel as though they have done something to reach out to the people of Haiti, who have suffered unimaginably.

One can’t help but reflect on what a special place this is both in terms of the wide and deep pool of talent found here, and what a receptive and supportive group of people who live here. One of the most touching things from my perspective, was watching all of the performers, young and not quite so young, preparing to go on the stage to do their part. Everyone took their role very seriously and did their very best. It was evident to all who were in attendance. It was an event that won’t soon be forgotten.
